The story of BeeSeal: New Zealand’s original beeswax polish

As a keen pig hunter, Tony Morris found that the market was lacking in a quality product to care for and waterproof his hunting boots. He knew that keeping his feet dry for as long as possible was key to how far he could walk.

Trapping possums and hunting pigs full time during the 1980s, Tony wore out quite a number of pairs of boots. Unfortunately, the only shoe polish available was "Dubbin" and Tanners Oil, which wasn’t satisfactory for the purpose. The stitching rotted easily and leather became too soft, so the heel of the boots became loose and fell apart at the stitching – so Tony started to look for a better solution.

Good old Kiwi ingenuity at its finest

In 1989, Tony tried and tested various beeswax formulations, until he found the perfect leather protector: BeeSeal. As time went on BeeSeal was found to be useful for many other purposes – so Tony began marketing the product and quickly noticed its popularity at trade shows and in the retail sector.

Now over two decades later, the original customers are still loyal to BeeSeal, and every day more New Zealanders are discovering this versatile, quality product.
